- Moto G smartphone with at least 80% battery status.
- Desktop or laptop with the USB driver software installed.
- USB cable compatible with Moto G.
- The "Superboot" tool, the main software required for the process. Download it from here.
How to Root Moto G
- Before anything else, back up all the files and data on your phone.
- To get the bootloader menu on the Moto G, you have to unlock the bootloader. Follow the simple steps explained on the official Motorola website. Check it here.
- Enable USB debugging. Go to Settings → About phone, tap 5 times to unlock the hidden Developer options, then open Developer options and turn on USB Debugging.
- Connect your device to the PC and extract the downloaded "Superboot" files into your SD card.
- Disconnect your Motorola from the PC and switch it off. Enter bootloader mode by holding the Volume Down button and the Power button together.
- Connect your Moto G to the PC and enter the command for your operating system:
- Mac: open a terminal window in the directory containing the files, then run
chmod +x superboot-mac.shfollowed by./superboot-mac.sh - Linux: open a terminal window in the directory containing the files, then run
chmod +x superboot-linux.shfollowed by./superboot-linux.sh - Windows: double-click
